MERLIN data reduction is best done at Jodrell Bank, where we can offer extensive support. In most cases, local software dprogs is used for the initial editing and calibration, while subsequent mapping and self-calibration is done using AIPS, often using an automatic pipeline approach.
Inexperienced users should allow about one day to produce a continuum map. Experienced users can make several such maps in a day; spectral-line projects may take considerably longer to process.
For more details on data reduction see The MERLIN User Guide
In a few cases, MERLIN staff may process the data and send out the results. Contact us at merlin@jb.man.ac.uk to make a request for this service.
