Conditions of Use for MERLIN data

Requests for the use of MERLIN are accepted on the following conditions:

1. MERLIN should be acknowledged in all publications either as a footnote to the title:

Based on observations made with MERLIN, a National Facility operated by the University of Manchester at Jodrell Bank Observatory on behalf of STFC

Or, if the editors will not allow a footnote, in the acknowledgements section:

MERLIN is a National Facility operated by the University of Manchester at Jodrell Bank Observatory on behalf of STFC

2. Copyright in and to the output data arising from the investigation is the property of the University of Manchester who shall grant a free licence to the investigator to use the output data for primary scientific publications. The investigator shall acknowledge and attribute copyright ownership to the University in respect of any reproduction. Use of output data by the investigator for any other purpose (including but not limited to inclusion in a book or magazine or similar publication) shall be subject to the investigator obtaining prior consent of the University and paying any fee required.

3. The University of Manchester will not disseminate the output data to third parties for a period of one (1) years from the end of the semester when the observation was made but reserves the right to do so thereafter under terms and conditions from time to time set out.

4. The University of Manchester may change these rules from time to time.

RadioNet acknowledgement. For all publications utilising MERLIN data observed after January 1st 2004 and acknowledgment to RadioNet must also be included:
