There are specific procedures for applying for simultaneous observations with MERLIN and global VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) or MERLIN+EVN (European VLBI Network). The submission address and deadlines for the EVN are used for formal submission of the proposal. Note that if awarded time, the observer is usually expected to schedule the VLBI experiment excluding the antennas used (solely) in MERLIN, which will be scheduled by the MERLIN staff.
If simultaneous or even contemporaneous observations with other instruments (e.g. VLA, JCMT) are required then separate proposals must be submitted to these facilities. Observers should check whether any time constraints are possible in principle, and make the requirements clear in the proposal. We will do our best to observe at the required time but observers should state how big a delay is permissable in case of unforseeable circumstances e.g. high winds.
