EVN TOG Meeting at Jodrell Bank Observatory - Monday 22nd November 2004

The next EVN TOG Meeting is to be held at Jodrell Bank Observatory (JBO) on Monday 22nd November 2004. This page gives details of accomodation and transport. Please use the form at the bottom of the page to register your attendance at the meeting.

The agenda is now available here. The current list of participants can be found here.

Limited travel support for this meeting can be given via RadioNet on special request to Walter Alef.

Getting to JBO and the hotels

JBO is situated in a rural area, about 30km south of the city of Manchester, and is the site of the radio astronomy and optical research groups of the University of Manchester. It is also the operations centre for the MERLIN/VLBI National Facility, and home of the 76m Lovell Telescope. The north-west of England is well served by scheduled flights between Manchester Airport and most major European cities (as well as direct trancontinental flights). Manchester Airport is about 10km north of Jodrell Bank, and is a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Boddington Arms Premier Lodge (see below). Alternatively, trains run from the airport to both Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, about every 1/2 hour.

Accomodation

Accomodation will be provided in the Alderley Edge/Wilmslow area, primarily at the Boddington Arms Premier Lodge, Wilmslow. This accomodation adjoins the Boddington Arms Henry's Table restaurant and pub. Any overspill will be accomodated inthe De Trafford Arms, Alderley Edge. The typical cost per room is UK 55 Sterling per night - breakfast is extra. Some information on Wilmslow (including a list of pubs/restaurants) can be found here. Similarly, some information about Alderley Edge can be found here. To reserve accomodation, please use the registration form below, indicating whether you require a single or double room. Please note that if you are attending the EVN, JIVE or RadioNet Board Meetings held at Jodrell Bank the previous week, and require an extention to your stay, please use the registration page on the RadioNet website to book your accomodation. Please also indicate that you have done this in the comments textbox below.

Local arrangements

A coach will pick up from the Boddington Arms Premier Lodge at approximately 08:30 on Monday 22nd November. Any people staying at the De Trafford Arms will be picked up on the way to the Observatory. Lunch will be provided at Jodrell Bank at 13:00. Coffee/Tea will be available at 10:45 and 15:45 during the meeting. The coach will return to the hotel(s) from Jodrell Bank at 19:00.

A RadioNet -sponsored dinner will be held at 20:30 that evening at the Alderley Edge EstEstEst Restaurant. This venue is across the road from the De Trafford Arms but is a short taxi ride from the main hotel, the Boddington Arms. We suggest groups of four people book taxis to the restaurant on return to the hotel. The cost per person should be only a few pounds.
